“Phase 2 Mass Casualty” at Avicii Concert

Over 30 people were taken to the hospital during an Avicii concert June 25th in Boston’s TD Garden. Fans of the progressive Swedish DJ also known as Tim Bergling reportedly recieved medical attention for drug and alcohol related issues.

Ecstasy Abuse at Avicii Show?

While the use of the drug ecstasy has not yet been confirmed, there have been many reports of its use at other electronic music events. The show had a one beer limit, but Rolling Stone reports that many of the concert goers arrived already intoxicated. An TD Garden employee reported that there was “vomit everywhere”.  While drug and alcohol abuse were reported, these conditions may have been worsened by the heat at TD Garden and dehydration issues.

Phase 2 Mass Casualty Declared

Though there were no fatal injuries, a “Phase 2 Mass Casualty” was declared. This was done to help hospitals prepare for an influx of 11 to 30 patients. Other concert goers were treated by EMS on the scene and released without being taken to a hospital.

Avicii released a statement on Twitter Thursday morning, saying, “My thoughts go to those affected & their families.”
