Amanda Bynes: a Post-Rehab Rehash

27-year old Amanda Bynes, former Nickelodeon starlet recently in the news for her apparent mental breakdown, was released from rehab in early December after five months of treatment. From drug use and DUIs to strange Tweets and even criminal behavior, Bynes has had a few rollercoaster years in a row.

Amanda Bynes Released From Rehab: Reviewing Her Mental Breakdown

March – September 2012: Driving Disturbances

Bynes first appeared in the spotlight when she was ticketed for talking on her phone while driving in March 2012. Just a month later, she side-swiped a police car in West Hollywood and was charged with a DUI. Her driving woes continued in September 2012, when she was charged for not one but two alleged hit and runs — one that occurred in April and one in August 2012.With her driver’s license suspended on September 6, Bynes was caught driving with a suspended license on September 16; her was impounded and she pled no contest to the charges, resulting in a sentence of three years probation.

Though her hit and run charges were dismissed in December 2012 after Bynes reached a settlement with the victims, her dysfunctional driving still made fans wonder: what was going on with Bynes?

Winter 2013-On: Twisted Twitter

In winter 2013, Bynes began tweeting from her verified account — and her 140-character updates and shared photos made many raise their eyebrows. From unverified claims of sexual harassment and a plea for the President to aid her legal woes to a strange request for rapper Drake and the debut of her Britney-inspired half shaved hairdo, Bynes’ feed has its fair share of head-scratching moments.

May 23, 2013: Manhattan Drug Arrest

After moving to New York City, Bynes again appeared in the news when she was arrested in Manhattan for marijuana possession along with evidence tampering and reckless endangerment for throwing a bong from her 36th floor apartment. Bynes claimed the drug paraphernalia was a vase.

July 22, 2013: Pyromania & Hospitalization

Upon her return to LA to launch her fashion career, Bynes was detained and hospitalized after setting a small fire in a stranger’s driveway in Thousand Oaks, California. Like Britney Spears and Mischa Barton before her, Bynes was subject to a 5150 mental health evaluation hold and her parents were awarded conservatorship over her medical care and finances. In September 2013, Bynes was transferred from UCLA Medical Center to a private care facility outside of LA.

Release From Rehab

Following her five months of treatment, Bynes is now out of rehab and settling back into life with her family. She was even recently seen at Disnleyland with her once-estranged parents.

Bynes says she’s doing well and that she looks forward to spending time at home over the holidays. She is continuing with outpatient treatments and someday hopes to attend college to study fashion design.

We wish Bynes luck with her continued recovery!

Amanda Bynes has certainly seen her share of ups and downs. I wasn’t aware of the fire she started, and it sounds like she’s having a rough time settling back into a normal life. Hoping she continues to better herself.

She has been through a pretty rough time over the past year. She seems to get it right but only for a moment. Now that she’s going to out patient treatment, maybe she’ll recognize her situation and continue to strive to better herself.

She’s finally making progress it sounds like, meeting with her parents, and spending time at home could help get her life back on the right path to success.

If she is willing to subdue her desires, and become a little more grounded around her family, I’m sure she’ll change her attitude pretty quickly.

Amanda Bynes was at one point on a path towards a great career. She’s human and has made some decisions that may not have been the wiser, but she’s seems like she’s strong willed, and will be better soon.

Here is another story about the success and fame of a young star going in the wrong direction. There are too many stories very similar to these, and I really hope she can bounce back.

She can’t catch a break in front of all those cameras and people. She’s going to have to do herself a favor and lay low and relax to attempt to clean her act up a little bit.
